Motrac Industries Expands into Electrical Drive Technology

Motrac Industries Expands into Electrical Drive Technology

Motrac Industries sailing a new course:

Baak, August 28th, 2018  Motrac Industries will be present at the SMM trade fair in Hamburg from 4 to 7 September, 2018. This year, the stand of the European systems integrator is entirely devoted to the new direction pursued. The company presents an expansion of their product offerings: a complete range of electrical drive components and systems for the mobile sector.

Formerly known as Motrac Hydraulics, the expert in the field of hydraulics over the years, the company will be called ‘Motrac Industries’ per September 3rd 2018. Among other things, they are the world's largest distributor of Linde Hydraulics high-pressure pumps and motors. "The ever-increasing attention for the environment and the ever stricter legislation and regulations in this area have led to a growing demand for electrical solutions in recent years," says Maarten Vinkesteijn, Managing Director of Motrac Industries. "For us, this was the perfect opportunity to expand our range with a complete package of electric propulsion technology and, as a result, to change our commercial company name. After all, the name ‘Motrac Hydraulics’ no longer covers our entire field of expertise.”

In the context of the recent expansion of the product range, Motrac Industries have entered into a partnership with Linde eMotion, part of Linde Material Handling GmbH, for low voltage electrical applications of up to approximately 130 V. For high voltage electrical applications (ranging from approximately 400 - 1100 V), Motrac has entered into a partnership with the German engineering company Aradex. Aradex products are characterized by extremely fast cycle times and control speeds, allowing the realisation of responsive control systems of up to five times faster than usual within the industry. In conjunction with high precision, heat generation in power electronics is kept to a minimum. This not only results in precise control but also significantly improves efficiency and energy consumption. Due to a high degree of configurability and scalability, the systems are quite versatile. Thus a combination of hydraulics and electronics is utilised resulting in the best of both worlds. Moreover, at the Motrac stand, the Aradex Inverter is on display. The high-performance inverter provides fast, precise and safe voltage control in electrical drive systems.

Also featured are Linde Hydraulics' high-pressure pumps. These pumps are available for both open and closed hydraulic systems, as well as for the now successful EcoGenDrive shaft generator. The EcoGenDrive serves as a replacement for a conventional diesel generator set, installed in the technical room next to the main diesel engine on an inland navigation vessel or fishing vessel. One of the system’s unique features is that the frequency remains stable with varying engine loads and speeds. This is possible thanks to an electronically adjustable Linde pump, a very fast Völkel controller and more than 60 years of experience in Linde hydraulics. The shaft generator comes in four models: the EGD40, EGD65, EGD85 and EGD120. The model names are based on the unit’s power output and are available for both 50Hz and 60Hz. The starting point here is the most ideal pump/engine combination, depending on PTO speed. The result is lower fuel consumption, lower CO2 emissions, as well as reduced costs for investment and maintenance. Depending on the chosen type of shaft generator, CO2 savings can amount to as much as 26 tons per year.

Moreover, on display at the stand is an IMAV Hydraulics manifold from German sister company Motrac Industries. For decades, such manifolds have served worldwide in a wide range of mid-market applications, ranging from the maritime to the mobile sector.
Also on display in Motrac’s stand is the Liebherr medium-pressure pump. Motrac has not only entered new partnerships for electrical applications but also for hydraulic. The increasing demand in the market for medium pressure pumps has led Motrac in finding a good partner in Liebherr.

Moreover, at the SMM stand, Motrac will present its custom logo for the first time. Fully in line with Royal Reesink's other business units, now the 'R' of Royal Reesink proudly precedes the Motrac logo.
And of course, the new name will be accompanied by a new website. As of September 3rd, 2018, this is live on www.motracindustries.com. Finally, Motrac Industries launches the new website of SEM: Service Engineer Motrac. From now on, the engineer’s service jobs can be followed on his own website: www.motracindustries-sem.com.
