Hydraulic pump set cable handling
Hydraulic system for loading and transporting electric cables between shore-based cable factories and cable drums on cable-laying ships, for example. The pump set consists of a Linde enclosed system that drives the hydromotors of the wheel pairs through which the electric cable passes.

Depending on what the application requires, the tensioners can be controlled by both speed and force. The set force requires a certain differential pressure across the hydraulic motor. This set differential pressure is measured with pressure sensors and adjusted by continuously regulating the stroke volume of the pumps.
The control and regulation is done by a Volkel control card developed specifically for this application. Both when fetching and issuing the cable, the voltage can be kept the same.
In addition, the system can also proportionally control the force with which the wheel pairs are pressed against each other. Ideal for handling relatively thin and more delicate data cables as well as heavy power cables.
